We did a collaboration with Hiptipico when we first started, and these gorgeous straps are the result. Each one is made 100% by hand by the talented men and women of Guatemala using a Backstrap Loom. This unique loom is a traditional weaving tool used by indigenous artisans in Guatemala. Moving their bodies back and forth to tighten and loosen the tension, the weaver's body is practically part of the loom and the weaving. It takes months to make just one, and gratefully because of companies like Hiptipico, these artisans are able to sell their work for what it's worth rather than at their local markets where they are forced to sell for practically nothing.
